Beep codes viewer

The computer POST (Power On Self Test) tests the computer, insuring that it meets the necessary system requirements and that all hardware is working properly before starting the remainder of the boot process. If the computer passes the POST, the computer will have a single beep (with some computer BIOS manufacturers it may beep twice) as the computer starts and it will continue to start normally. However, if the computer fails the POST, the computer will either not beep at all or will generate a beep code, which tells the user the source of the problem. This little utility will help you to lookup these beep codes and figure out what they represent.

Fix your CD or DVD drive is missing or not recognized by Windows

Rizone CD-DVD Repair is a small utility that will repair Windows if your CD or DVD drive is missing or not recognized by Windows or other programs. Apart form the basic functionality it also allows resetting of Autorun settings and protection against Autorun parasites(virus).

The former lets you repair the Autoplay/Autorun settings if for some reason it fails to work, while the latter provides protection against Autorun virus by disabling the Autorun feature for removable drives. In Windows 7 it will disable autorun for non-Volume devices to protect against viruses, since Microsoft have permanently disabled autorun.inf for removable drives. Use the first option only if Autorun fails to work.

Security Restore-restore your deafult security settings

Security Restore, as the name implies, will simply attempt to restore your computer to the default security settings. This is useful for when you get, ‘You don’t have permission to… blah, blah, blah’ errors, while installing programs or updating stuff. It will also attempt to repair the dreaded 0×80070005 error messages when trying to register dll files while installing certain Windows components or programs. Sometimes you will not get this specific error number, but just an Installation Failed message. This tool will in most cases also repair these errors, for example:  Internet Explorer 7 installation failure and permission errors while installing BitDefender AntiVirus.
This should only be used when you actually have something wrong with your computer. This will normally be after a virus attack and you are trying to register components, for example: when you try and update a Windows installation. Also, when you try to install a AntiVirus program after virus removal and you keep on receiving permission errors. This utility replaces the popular Rizone 0×80070005 FIX.

FreeFixer-Remove potentialy unwnated files and programs

FreeFixer is a general purpose removal tool which will help you to delete potentially unwanted software, such as adware, spyware, trojans, viruses and worms. FreeFixer works by scanning a large number of locations where unwanted software has a known record of appearing or leaving traces. The scan locations include the programs that run on your computer, the programs that starts when you reboot your computer, your browser's plug-ins, your home page setting, etc.
FreeFixer does not know what is unwanted, so it presents the scan result and it's up to you decide if some file should be removed and if some settings should restored to their default value. Please be careful! If you delete a legitimate file you may damage your computer. To assist you when determining if anything should be removed you can find more information at FreeFixer's web site for each item in the scan result. You can for example see what other users chose to do in the same situation.

Screenshot showing some of FreeFixer's scan result. Files listed with green background are on FreeFixer's list of trusted files. The files with white/gray background are unknown to FreeFixer, so it cannot say anything about them. (In this case, they are all legitimate files).

FreeFixer is freeware and Windows 2000/XP/2003/20008/Vista/7 RC1 compatible. 64-bit Windows is not supported yet.
When FreeFixer is unable to delete files in normal Windows mode they are registered for delayed removal with FreeFixer's Native Deleter, which removes the files upon the next reboot. The actual delete operation is done before the logon screen appear. The majority of malware can be deleted at this point.

How to Enable Windows 7 GodMode

Here’s a neat Windows 7 trick that’s been doing the rounds on the Internet. It enables “GodMode,” a term devised by the Microsoft development team, which provides a single place to access all Windows settings without needing to browse options and folders in the Control Panel.
    To use it:
      GodMode window
    1. Create a new folder.
    2. Rename the folder to GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
(note that you can change the “GodMode” text, but the following period and code number are essential).
    3. The folder icon will change — double click it to show the GodMode window:
    See the attachments:

The window shows nearly 50 sections with quick links to configuration options. Strictly speaking, it’s not a God Mode since all the options are available elsewhere. It’s more akin to an “all tasks” list — but you may find it easier than stumbling through Windows numerous screens and panels.
