Your computer does not strat if the system hive is too large


In windows 2000 system could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINNT\system32\config\systemced stratup option for windows 2000,press F8
This is may occure if windows cannot allocate enough memory to system hive.The system hive is typically around 3MB,but when it is highly fragmented or damaged,its size may increase greatly.If a large number number of programs have been installed and removed on your computer,or the computer shares a large number of resources,the registry become too large.
SOLUTION
1.Repalce the system Hive.
In Recovery console,type
“Copy C:\WINNT\repair\system C:\WINNT\system32\config\system “
If prompt for overrite file press Y on keyboard.
2.Restore the system file from the system.ALT backup file.
In recovery console,
Copy C:\WINNT\system32\config\system.alt c:\WINNT\system32\config\system
Press ENTER and type EXIT to restart.
